FastCover helps creators design video covers and social thumbnails on iPhone and iPad with character cutout, backgrounds, text layers, and platform-ready formats.

What FastCover Does

  • Create horizontal and vertical covers for long videos, short videos, and social platforms.
  • Import one or more character photos and remove the background automatically.
  • Edit characters, background colors, background patterns, background photos, text, outlines, shadows, and layers.
  • Save local projects, reopen them later, rename projects, and export final images as PNG.

Technical Overview

  • Built with SwiftUI and UIKit on iOS.
  • Uses Apple Vision for on-device person segmentation.
  • Uses Core Image, ImageIO, and native rendering APIs for image processing and PNG export.
  • Uses PhotosUI for photo selection and the system share sheet for sharing exported files.
  • Project files are stored locally on your device.

Troubleshooting

Photo import or cutout fails

Try a clearer image with the person visible. Extremely large images are downsampled before processing to reduce memory pressure.

Cannot save to Photos

FastCover asks for add-only Photos permission when saving exported covers to your photo library. You can change this in iOS Settings.

Exported cover looks different

The export is rendered from the same canvas state used in the editor. If a layer is selected or adjusted, save the project or export again after the canvas finishes updating.

Projects are missing

Projects are stored locally. Deleting the app or clearing app data can remove saved projects.
